Singapore – SATO, a pioneer in the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a leader in barcode printing, labelling, and EPC/RFID solutions announced that its “SATO XML-enabled 3.0” printing capability has achieved SAP certification integration with the SAP® Auto-ID Infrastructure Release 5.1. SATO offers the certified XML printing function on its CL series printers.
The SATO printers come with an easy-to-manage interface to print RFID and barcode labels from the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure. Using the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure-certified interface, users can print RFID smart labels directly from their SAP applications without any middleware or additional programming. The printers’ capability to encode data in RFID tags and print labels without the need of middleware amount to significant time and cost savings for users.
The SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure aims to integrate RFID technology with supply chain processes. SATO’s SAP-certified label printing solutions will offer customers a cost-effective, rapid integration of RFID label printing into SAP solution-based environments. The solutions are scalable as they grow with users' information-processing needs, eliminating the need for costly middleware.
“With this certification SATO continues to provide robust printing solutions that seamlessly integrate within the SAP NetWeaver-based environment. This will provide SAP users with more options to enable their RFID-based supply chain management (SCM) and supply chain execution (SCE) processes across the enterprise for both closed-loop systems, as well as to meet RFID compliance requirements. SATO has a range of RFID-ready printers that offer users an option to upgrade to RFID technology in anticipation of future requirements,” said Kaz Matsuyama, Managing Director of SATO International.
The interface software for SATO XML-enabled 3.0 has been certified for integration with SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure 5.1 via the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure-Device Controller Interface (AII-DC-RFID) 1.0 integration scenario.
SAP AII is an extension of SAP NetWeaver that uses XML to interface with peripheral devices such as printers
