What is SATO All-In-One Printer Utilities application and what are the purposes of the software?

SATO All-In-One Printer Utilities application is a system that provides printer management utilities such as Network Printer Auto Discovery, Printer Firmware Download, Graphics Download, Font Download and etc. The purposes of this tool are:

- To hide the complexity of SATO printer configurations from end-users
- To allow users to remotely configure and administrate the SATO printers
- To consolidate as many SATO Printer utilities tools as possible into one system

 

What models of SATO printers are supported?
The following models of SATO printers are supported:

  • CL4e/CL6e Series
  • CG2/CG4 Series
  • GT4e Series

The SATO All-In-One application will be undergoing continual refinement, and it is expected that other SATO printer models will be supported in future, in line with customer demand.

In order to utilize full functionality of the SATO AIOT, it may be necessary to ensure you have the latest version of printer firmware installed. Contact SATO Technical Support for specific information regarding firmware for specific printer firmware updates available.

For 'e' series printers using versions of SILEX Network Interface card (such as GTe and CLe), it is necessary to use the SILEX firmware which supports bi-directional communications on port 9100, i.e., version A1.2.3 and above.
* For SAI-SILEX firmware, it is necessary to add the printer with Port no.: 1024.

What operation systems (OS) are supported?

What are the minimum system requirements in order to run the application?
  • A computer with at least a 450MHz Pentium® CPU with 128 MB of RAM, running Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7 platforms, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012
  • Installed .NET Framework 2.0 (or higher version)
  • At least one supported model of SATO printer that can connect to the computer running this application
Can I release the software to my customer or business partner?
Yes, the software can be released to customers/business partners. GMC members need to ensure the operations of the application are well understood by the customers/business partners.
How do I report a bug/problem?
Try to capture so much information as possible, such as the screen capture, log file (at c:\SATO_All-in-one.log) and the procedure to cause the problem. And then email the information to Technical Support.

Can I still continue to use the existing tools?
Yes, you still can continue to use the existing tools, if you find they are more suitable for your purposes. In the long run, though, the purpose of the SATO All-In-One Printer Utilities application is aimed to consolidate all the printer utilities into one system.

INSTALLATION

What is .NET Framework 2.0 and why it is required?

The Microsoft .NET Framework is a software component included with the Microsoft Windows operating system. It provides a large body of pre-coded solutions to common software development requirements, and manages the execution of programs written specifically for the framework. The .NET Framework is intended to be used by most new applications created for the Windows platform.

SATO All-In-One Printer Utilities software is developed using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2.0. Thus, the framework is necessary to provide the software environment for the application.

The .NET Framework 2.0 can be downloaded here:

* For Windows Vista, it is not necessary to install the .Net Framework for this application. This is because .Net Framework 2.0 and .Net Framework 3.0 are already included in Windows Vista.
 
How do I know whether I already have the .Net Framework installed in my PC?
For Windows Xp and Windows Server 2003, you can check whether the Framework is already installed in your PC by looking at program list in the 'Add or Remove Programs' window in the Control Panel.

* Windows Vista has .Net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 installed by default.



 

What if I already have a higher version of .Net Framework in my PC?
.Net Framework is backward compatible. If you already have the higher version of .Net Framework (e.g. .Net Framework 3.0) in your PC, then you do not need to install the .Net Framework 2.0.
Do I have to be the administrator of the PC to install the application?
This is a Printer Management Application, which should be used only be authorized users to control and manage the printers. The users who install and use the application should be the PC's administrator or belong to the Administrator group.

What functionalities are supported by the All-In-One Printer Utilities Application?

Is Boot Firmware Download mode supported in this application?
Flash Download can be carried out automatically by All-In-One tool without user intervention. However, in Boot Download, user is required to follow the instruction carefully shown by the tool. Failure in executing the procedure might result irreversible damages to the printer.
Does this application support Emulation Firmware?
This application supports only SATO printer in SBPL Emulation mode.
Does this application support font download with 'Selected Characters'?
Yes, 'Selected Characters' of fixed size True Type Font can be downloaded using this tool. This is done by using FD command.
What types of Graphics Download are supported by this application?
Currently, this application supports 3 types of Graphics Download:

1) Graphic Registration
The picture files are downloaded using ESC+GI command and retrieved using ESC+GR command.

2) Bitmap File Registration
The picture files are downloaded using ESC+GT command and retrieved using ESC+GC command.

3) PCX File Registration
The picture files are downloaded using ESC+PI command and retrieved using ESC+PY command.

* Graphics downloaded with this method will not have dithering effect
* Graphic Download using ESC+FD command
Why the Auto-Discovery function is not able to detect my MB200i/400i printers?
The Auto-Discovery function supports SATO printers with SILEX Network Interface card, GL LAN card and the SATO Built-in LAN card (for CT4xxi). The network interface module of MB200i/400i does not support Auto-Discovery protocol due to hardware issue.
Why the Auto-Discovery function is not able to detect my printers with SILEX Network Interface card?
Please the check the firmware version of the SILEX Network Interface card used in the printer. It must support bi-directional communication. Please use version V1.2.3 or above.
Why I failed to add the GL printer with LAN interface to my All-In-One application?
Please make sure the Return Status Port and the Host Interface settings are correctly configured. For the Return Status Port, please make sure the E-Net Data Port is selected.

For the Host Interface, please make sure that Ethernet is selected.

It could also be due to the wrong port setting. By default, the ASCII DATA PORT of GL is 1024. You might want to set to 9100 to match with the port number used by the All-In-One tool.
Can I use Status 4 protocol in GL, S84 and GT for the All-In-One tool?
Yes, All-In-One tool supports Status 5 and Status 4 for GL, S84 and GT. Status 3 is not supported.
