SUMMARY: The Manufacturing engineering manager plays a crucial role in driving the success of all Label Manufacturing engineering initiatives and projects by effectively managing resources, fostering teamwork, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing all technical support needed across SAL. Their primary role is to plan, coordinate, and control the fulfillment of required manufacturing processes for all manufacturing sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Technical Expertise: Providing technical guidance and support to SAL and team members, resolving technical issues, and ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and standards.
  • Project Management: Planning, scheduling, and coordinating engineering projects to meet deadlines and budget constraints. This includes Capex, cost reduction projects, and product-related improvement projects.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with engineering projects and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This includes the creation and fulfillment of the FMEA process and equipment succession planning.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that products meet the required standards. This involves inspecting production output, analyzing quality data, addressing non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, and, when necessary, fully supporting ISO-9001 compliance. Create and maintain all Engineering Processes for SAL, including document management and control.
  • Process Improvement: Lead the continuous improvement effort for SAL manufacturing and product development. Promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team, fostering innovation, and staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through data analytics.
  • Performance Monitoring: Take ownership of engineering and manufacturing data. Create dashboards to track engineering projects, production metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Utilize the data to assess and improve the efficiency, productivity, and quality of the engineering and manufacturing processes. Provide regular updates to management on engineering projects.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments, such as product management, production, and quality assurance, to align engineering efforts with business goals and requirements.
  • Production Support: Lead and support new part introduction, sustaining engineering, and cost reduction efforts across all manufacturing sites. Fulfill all product data management, tooling design, plate artwork, and printing plate fabrication.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage the technical teams, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to employees. Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and encourage continuous skill development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and senior management, to understand their needs and expectations and address any concerns.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that processes and equipment comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a safe working environment, conduct risk assessments, and implement measures to minimize workplace hazards and accidents. Provide technical support to the SAL Safety Committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience is required.
  • Product Development experience preferred.
  • Experience in the flexographic printing industry is a strong plus.
  • Proven manufacturing business and operational acumen are required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing and delivering improved cost, lead time, and quality.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP system utilization.
  • Project Management Certification is preferred.
  • Experience supporting a Quality Management System business strategy and ISO Certification preferred.

SUMMARY: Performs all duties and responsibilities of level 2 press operator. Routinely assists supervisor as needed and takes a lead position in the absence of direct supervision. Approves tools for operators and helps maintain overall shift productivity and quality standards.

  • Ability to set up and operate Laser and EAS equipment (with training)

SUMMARY: The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the ongoing procurement and negotiations of materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services that meet the company's quality standards. They will assume full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure timely (scheduled) deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. They will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*:

Purchasing/Planning

• Govern the complete procurement process from PO submission to PO receipt

• Generate and process purchase orders for materials, services, and supplies from purchase requisitions or various planning reports

• Identify, qualify, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness

• Submit Requests for Quote (RFQs) to suppliers and analyze quotes

• Identify, suggest, and lead cost-minimization initiatives

• Interface with suppliers with respect to price, availability of materials, and lead times

• Implement the appropriate actions as driven by changes in the production schedule or customer requirements (expedite, defer, cancel, etc.)

• Ensure order confirmations are received for every Purchase Order

• Maintain Purchase Order expected arrival dates in ERP system

• Upload Purchase Orders, Supplier Order Confirmations to Transform Content Center (TCC) (Digital Document Archive)

• Work with Suppliers and Accounts Payable to resolve invoice price discrepancies

• Work with suppliers to resolve shipment errors

• Provide forecasts to suppliers as required

• Monitor and report market trends and conditions on commodity raw materials

• Communicate delays that affect customer expected ship dates with Management, Customer Service and Manufacturing

• Monitor and follow up on past-due arrival dates

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers

• Assist in the execution of supply agreements

• Demonstrates appropriate negotiating skills with suppliers to secure appropriate cost, schedule, quality, payment, and delivery terms

• Continually assess existing suppliers to ensure they meet the Company’s objectives for quality, capacity, and total cost

• Resolve material non-conformances/supplier quality issues. Submit and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).

• Coordinate the return of defective products

Planning

• Review sales forecasts, production schedules, and sales/usage history to determine material requirements for designated items

• Review and analyze planning worksheets. Determine and order optimal quantities

• May plan and procure raw materials to support label manufacturing or hardware requirements

• Analyze and adjust min/max stocking levels to coincide with changing customer demand, lead time changes and other initiatives

Inventory

• May enter Inventory Adjustments as approved for hardware products

Other

• Provide input and participation as required to meet organizational continuous improvement objectives

• Write and maintain departmental work instructions as needed

• Create and submit monthly reports as required

• Respond to order status inquiries from sales staff, project and product managers, and customer service

• Assist with facility maintenance and janitorial operations using preapproved service providers

• May provide import paperwork to customs brokers as requested

• Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned product lines, collaborate with Product Management to gain a better understanding of product line and how to best support.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in Business or related experience preferred

• 0-2 years experience in planning, sourcing, and purchasing inventory; experience gained in a manufacturing environment required

• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

• ERP purchasing/planning/inventory/scheduling is highly preferred.

• Experience with International logistics and procurement procedures a plus.

• Must have the ability to recognize and analyze complete inventory purchasing processes to identify improvements and assist with implementing “best practices”

• Strong attention to detail, highly organized with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

• Experience in the label manufacturing industry a plus.

• Professional Certifications (CSCP, CPM, CPIM, etc.) helpful

SATO America is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager.

The successful candidate will be a highly technical sales representative responsible for managing and growing OEM account relationships, developing integrator alliances, and promoting SATO Print Engines to end-users. The individual acts as a consultant for AIDC and RFID solutions. Also, maintain and develop sound business relationships with clients and internal teams and ensure effective sales management processes are in place to meet service delivery and profitability targets.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales program, meeting goals with budgeted resources for partner support, and developing strategies that promote SATO.
  • Execute their individual sales goals, monitor performance and actively engage partners in the process of outcome disciplines.
  • Individually motivate partners to develop new SATO businesses. Evaluate each partner company’s sales representatives and provide formal and informal training delivery in appropriate areas of product knowledge and solution offerings of SATO.
  • Drive account penetration by building and executing professional selling relationships with key stakeholders, discovering needs, relating customer value to the SATO engine, and other hardware, software & service solutions, handling inquiries, and managing ongoing customer relationships.
  • Work to develop a continuous pipeline of new opportunities from OEM and target accounts while maintaining and growing the existing OEM account base.
  • Assume total ownership for accelerating the sale process: target new business development, manage the quote process, "quarterbacking" the proposal development, and successful delivery of the SATO solution.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with customers, create action plans, and measure activity against the target.
  • Counsel, train and guide SATO partners and drive tactical and strategic plans in order to achieve sales goals.
  • Work with other sales team members and product management to promote successful print engine growth across all business units.
  • Coordinate resources to identify key internal and external resources, communicate relevant information, and build customer-focused relationships.
  • Consultative problem-solving to drive customer value by using both internal & external collaboration to maximize account penetration and sales of the complete product line.
  • Ensure that SATO’s standards of business ethics are demonstrated and include, fairness and honesty are adhered to in all business situations.
  • Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s product line, especially print engines, in order to effectively evangelize brand awareness, features, benefits, and applications for SATO products.
  • Exhibit thorough, conscientious, and diligent responses and assistance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in conferences, exhibitions, and industry meet-ups for business development as required
  • Effectively communicate issues, escalations, and opportunities to various departments within SATO
  • Maintain up-to-date reporting for opportunities, forecasting, and project management in relevant business systems.
  • Negotiating contracts to arrive at the best deal for customers, partners, and SATO
  • Keep informed on competitive products and services, promotional efforts, sales techniques, pricing, and marketing policies.
  • Develop customer relationships and provide data and insights on customer requirements, strategies, and business opportunities.
  • Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies that can affect the company’s mission. Periodical reporting of your research back through company channels
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience using consultative selling and closing skills in a technology environment. College degree a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills coupled with solid technical abilities. A demonstrated ability to close a sale that may consist of a long selling cycle.
  • Must be technically savvy, having a basic knowledge of PC-level local and network hardware and host system understanding and communications. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software. Experience with SalesForce.com and Oracle or other ERP systems is helpful.
  • A solid working knowledge of AIDC solutions and their associated selling techniques.
  • General understanding of RFID technology and applications.
  • A self-starter who can manage sales goals through prospecting, lead qualification, forecasting, resource allocation, account strategy, and planning.
  • Ability to manage a sales process, including negotiating sales opportunities to closure, through a deep understanding of a prospective customer buying process.
  • Must be strategic, willing to take action, customer-focused, deal well with ambiguity, have solid planning/organization skills, and be effective at managing systems.
  • Able to create and conduct formal presentations.
  • Experience in developing product and solution offerings.
